
Golf Moves into First at BIG EAST Men's Golf Championship

Leach ties course record with 6-under 66
HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - The Marquette University men's golf team leads the BIG EAST Men's Golf Championship through two rounds at 4-under par.
After an opening round 5-over par 293, the Golden Eagles bounced back on day two with a 9-under par 279.Â
Tyler Leach carded the low round of the tournament with a 6-under 66. Leach's score ties his career-low and the course record at Riverton Pointe. The Spring Valley, Wisconsin native rolled in seven birdies with only one bogey on the day. Leach is 1-under for the tournament and is tied for tenth individually.Â
Bhoom Sima-Aree leads the Golden Eagles through 36 holes at 3-under par. Sima-Aree holed six birdies in the round, including three consecutive on Nos. 13, 14 and 15. Sima-Aree's lone mistake of the day came in the form of a double bogey on the par-5 18th. An errant tee shot forced him to take a penalty and re-tee. Sima-Aree was still able to turn in a 4-under par 68 and move into a tie for fourth.
MU's No. 1, Nicolás Evangelio shot an even par (72) for the second day in a row. Evangelio's round was highlighted by an eagle on the 538-yard par 5 No. 15. He is tied for 13th individually.Â
Marquette heads into the final round with a one-stroke lead over Seton Hall and a two-stroke lead over St. John's.
