
Marquette Claims Fifth BIG EAST Men's Golf Championship

Sima-Aree ties for individual title
HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The Marquette University men's golf team claimed the BIG EAST Men's Golf Championship and Bhoom Sima-Aree earned co-medalist honors.
This is Marquette's fifth conference title and fourth under head coach Stephen Bailey. MU's last held the BIG EAST crown in 2019.
The BIG EAST field was tested in the final round at Riverton Pointe with strong winds and rain throughout the day.
MU finished 9-over par (293-279-301) as a team to win by three strokes over St. John's.
In his first BIG EAST Championship, Sima-Aree made the All-Tournament Team and earned co-medalist honors with Jack Simon of St. John's. Sima-Aree shot an even par 72 in the final round to tie Simon at 3-under for the tournament.
The two entered a one-hole playoff on No. 18 for the automatic qualifier spot into the NCAA Championship. In the playoff, Sima-Aree made par, while Simon birdied to earn the automatic qualifier spot.
In round two, Tyler Leach had the low round of the tournament for MU with a 6-under 66. Leach tied his career-low and the course record at Riverton Pointe. Leach tied for 14th place at 5-over par.
Sophomore Max Lyons records his second top-20 finish at the BIG EAST Championship, tying for 12th at 4-over par.
As BIG EAST Champions, the Golden Eagles earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship
