Golden Eagles open play at Huskie Invitational Friday morning

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's tennis team closes out its 2024 fall campaign this weekend with action at NIU Huskie Invitational.

The team will send six players to DeKalb, Illinois to take part in the NIU hosted tournament.

Out of the six players traveling freshmen Aiyana Abbott holds four wins in singles play this fall.

In doubles play Luciana Mendoza and Joelle Fiallo Schad have recorded three wins this fall and only have lost one match.

"Really looking forward to seeing our team compete this weekend. It has been a while since our last tournament and we've have been working very hard in practice," director of tennis Jud Shaufler said. "We know we need to compete and find out a little more about where we stand right now. This is our last time competing before we come back in January so this is an important tournament for us."

Emma Davis, Emma-Jane Barclay, and Elena Duva will also travel to NIU to compete in the final tournament of the fall.
