Golden Eagles wrap up three game homestand before BIG EAST play
MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's lacrosse team hosts Central Michigan and No. 3 Michigan this weekend at Valley Fields. Both games can be seen on FloSports with Scott Sudikoff (play by play) and Eric Simon (analyst) on the call.
Faceoff is at 3 p.m. CT on Friday against the Chippewas. It will be the 10th meeting all-time between the two programs, with MU leading the series 7-2.
Sunday's matchup with the third-ranked Wolverines is at noon CT and will be the third ranked opponent for MU this season and second at home. Michigan and Marquette have met three times with the last matchup coming during the 2016 season. Michigan leads the all-time series, 2-1.
The Golden Eagles are coming off a 15-4 win over Eastern Michigan on Sunday. Marquette was led by Meg Bireley, who had 5 goals on a career-high 15 shots. Leigh Steiner tied her career-high with four goals.
MU tied its season-high with 12 caused turnovers and were led in defense by senior captain Faith Chmielewski, who had a career-high four caused turnovers.
The Golden Eagles had a season-high 47 shots, two away from the program record for shots in a game. MU dominated the draw, winning 18-out-of-23 draw controls. Josie Kropp had 13, her third game this season with 10-or-more draw controls.

• Leigh Steiner was named BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week for the first time in her career on Monday, March 18.
• Steiner had career-highs in goals (4), shots (13) and shots on goal (9) against Eastern Michigan on Sunday.
• The senior captain had two goals, one assist and five draw controls at Ohio State. • This marks back-to-back weekly honors for Steiner, who earned a spot on the weekly honor roll last week.

• Meg Bireley scored eight goals at Ohio State on Thursday, March 12.
• Eight goals set a new career-high for the junior attacker and tied the program's single game record for goals in a game.
MEG 2X BIG EAST ATTACKER OF THE WEEK
• Meg Bireley was named BIG EAST Attacker of the Week for the third time this season on Monday, March 18.
• Bireley had 13 goals last week, including a career-high eight goals at Ohio State on Tuesday. Eight goals tied the program's record for goals in a game.
• On Sunday, the junior had a team-high five goals on a career-high and program record tying 15 shots in MU's 15-4 win over Eastern Michigan.

• Meg Bireley is fifth in the nation in goals with 39 for the season.
• The junior attacker is fourth in the NCAA in goals per game (4.33) and third in shots per game (9.44).
