AWENDAW, South Carolina – The Marquette University men's golf team is seventh through the first round of the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate in Awendaw, South Carolina.

The Golden Eagles shot a 6-over 294 on Sunday, led by a 2-under 70 from graduate student Aidan Lafferty, who recorded three birdies on the back nine for his eighth round under par this season. Lafferty posted a birdie on the par-5 fourth before back-to-back bogeys on the seventh and eighth holes. He responded on the back nine with birdies on the 11th, 13th and 16th to end his day in a tie for fourth.

Junior Max Lyons began his day with an eagle on the second hole and finished with a 1-over 73 on Sunday.

The Golden Eagles are paired with Purdue and Coastal Carolina for Monday's second round and begin the day on the 10th tee at 8 a.m. Central time.
