MARQUETTE (4-8, 0-3 BIG EAST)
- MU's veteran core has reached numerous statistical milestones this season, including a new program ground ball record for defenseman Mason Woodward (257), career assist record for Jake Stegman (80), career goal mark for Bobby O'Grady (113) and the 100-point threshold for both O'Grady (131) and Stegman (125).
- Stegman leads the Golden Eagles with 34 points on 11 goals and a team-best 23 assists, while O'Grady has a team-high 25 goals and 32 total points.
- MU faceoff specialist Luke Williams leads the BIG EAST Conference and is fourth nationally with a .631 winning percentage this season (123-of-195). That mark would be a MU single-season program record and Williams is now one of just three players in program history with over 200 career ground balls after picking up 11 against Providence on Saturday. Over the last two weeks against then-No. 6/9 Georgetown and PC, Williams has won 37-of-49 faceoffs (.755) and picked up 26 ground balls.
- MU graduate attackman Devon Cowan (99 career goals) is just one goal from becoming the third player in MU history to reach 100.
- O'Grady became the program's all-time scoring leader with four goals against then-No. 13/12 Michigan on Feb. 24 to surpass Ryan McNamara's record of 102 in the process. O'Grady now has 113 career goals just 41 games into his career (it took McNamara 64 games to reach 102) along with 131 points, just one behind Cowan (132) for third all-time at MU.
- The Wildcats defeated St. John's in Queens on Saturday after opening BIG EAST play with home losses to Denver and Providence.
- VU began the year with losses at Penn State and Yale before winning six of the next seven games heading into league play. Those six wins included road victories at Navy and Brown on March 19 and 25, respectively.
- The Wildcats lead the BIG EAST in shots (40.33), ground balls (31.75) and caused turnovers (10.58) per game but are last with 19.42 turnovers themselves per contest.
- Stephen Zupicich leads the nation with 3.08 caused turnovers per game.
- Mike Corrado is in his 30th season at VU, including his 18th as head coach.
- The Wildcats were picked to finish fourth in the BIG EAST preseason poll with 14 points, two points behind MU.

- MU's last win against VU was a 14-9 victory in the 2016 BIG EAST semifinals at Denver.
- Villanova won last year's matchup, 16-15, in overtime at Villanova Stadium after rallying from a three-goal third quarter deficit. Will Foster put MU ahead, 11-8, early in the third and Cowan gave MU its last lead, 15-14, with 6:06 left in regulation. VU's Austin Fraser tied the game with 33 seconds remaining in the fourth and potted the winner 1:11 into extra time.
- MU is 1-4 against VU at home, but none of those games were played at the stadium at Valley Fields. The last three matchups in the Valley were played inside the seasonal dome.
- MU's lone regular season win over VU at home was an 11-3 triumph over then-No. 5/6 Villanova on April 2, 2016, in goalie Cole Blazer's first career start. Blazer, a two-time All-BIG EAST performer, notched 13 saves as MU held off the Wildcats after jumping out to an early 7-0 lead. The contest was played on the middle turf field at Valley before the seasonal dome was in place.
