Golden Eagles back in action on Thursday at Valley Fields
MADISON - The Marquette University men's soccer team (3-1-0, 0-0-0 BIG EAST) closed a two-game road stint with a 2-1 loss at No. 22 Wisconsin (4-0-0, 0-0-0 Big Ten) Monday at McClimon Soccer Complex.
In a scoreless first half of soccer, the Golden Eagles registered four shots. The Badgers tallied four shots, with one of them being on goal.
Mitchell Dryden and Antonio Costabile were the two Golden Eagles with the best chances in the first half but both shots were just wide of the goal.
In the 69th minute Abdoul Karim Pare was fouled in the box resulting in a MU penalty kick. Mitar Mitrovic found the back of the net to give the Golden Eagles a 1-0 advantage.
In the 71st minute the Badgers scored after a rebound from a prior shot on goal.
In the 86th minute Wisconsin finds the back of the net for the game winning goal to take the 2-1 advantage.
