Golden Eagles travel to Utah for pair of matches this weekend
The Marquette University women's soccer team (1-1-0) dropped a 1-0 decision to Notre Dame (3-0-1) Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at Valley Fields.
The Golden Eagles and the Fighting Irish exchanged shot attempts early in the first half, but neither were able to find the net through the first 25 minutes. Notre Dame's Sophia Fisher came off the bench to score the lone goal of the first half to give The Irish the first lead of the game at the 27:17 mark.
Notre Dame's first-half goal was the difference maker in the match, as neither team was able to find the back of the net for the rest of the contest.
The Golden Eagles did have a pair of shot attempts in the box cleared off the line by defenders, including one in the first six minutes that would have given the squad an early 1-0 advantage.
Netminder Mikki Easter finished with six saves on 18 shot attempts.
UP NEXT: The team hits the road for the first time in 2021, facing BYU on Thursday, Sept. 2 at 8 p.m. CT. MU will also play Utah State on Sept. 5 to conclude its trip.
