
'Blue & Gold' Student-Athlete: Payton Hanselman

MILWAUKEE - Women's track & field athlete Payton Hanselman is the Blue & Gold Student-Athlete of the Month for December 2022, as chosen by Marquette Athletics' Academics and Student Programs staff.
Hanselman is a senior biomedical sciences major with minors in health studies and public affairs and equity. She is a certified nursing assistant and has worked with aging populations, veterans and stroke patients.
All while being an athlete, Hanselman has been involved in SAAC (Student- Athlete Advisory Committee) and is currently SAAC VP for Community Engagement. Payton was a mentee in the MAGIS Mentor program her freshman year, and then became a mentor in the same program to other incoming freshmen. She is actively involved with SHAPE, the peer mental health program, and with FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes).
She worked with other student-athlete leaders to facilitate Marquette Athletics Orientation for new student-athletes. Payton is also the Secretary of the Student Organ Donation Association. She has applied to graduate programs, and will pursue her master's in a health-related program after graduation in hopes of becoming a nurse practitioner.
Hanselman was named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team in the 2021-22 season. She ran a season-best in the 100-meter dash with the time of 12.80 seconds at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships.
