'Blue & Gold' Student-Athlete: Stevie Mitchell

Mitchell was the team GPA leader for men's basketball in the spring of 2022
MILWAUKEE - Men's basketball player Stevie Mitchell is the Blue & Gold Student-Athlete of the Month for August 2022, as chosen by Marquette Athletics' Academics and Student Programs staff.
Mitchell is a sophomore in the College of Business and leads the team with a 3.91 grade-point average, achieving Dean's List mention as well as BIG EAST All-Academic honors and a spot on the Marquette Athletics Director's Honor Roll. Due to his top performance in accounting classes, his professor encouraged him to consider it as a major, but Stevie is still undecided as of this time.
Mitchell is the men's basketball SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) representative, serving as the link between teammates and administration, as well as promoting events within athletics. During the summer, he has participated in the Miracle League baseball program as a volunteer, paired with a physically-challenged child as their buddy on the baseball field, allowing differently-abled children to enjoy the experience of team sport. He has also been part of "Reading with a Golden Eagle", visiting grade school classrooms to encourage reading. He volunteers at food drives and campus clean-up initiatives, and is often seen in the stands cheering for fellow student-athletes at their competitions.
The Reading, Pennsylvania native played in all 32 games last season for the Golden Eagles, scoring 89 points in 10.8 minutes per contest and emerging as one of MU's top perimeter defenders with 22 steals on the year.
