MILWAUKEE - Men's distance runner Patrick Burns is the Baird Blue & Gold Student-Athlete of the Month for March 2022, as chosen by Marquette Athletics' Academics and Student Programs staff.
Burns completed his undergraduate degree in December 2021, with a major in data science, and a minor in information systems, graduating magna cum laude. He is currently pursuing his master's of science degree in data science, specializing in machine learning. He has been on the Dean's List and has been a member of the Athletics Director's Honor Roll every semester of his undergraduate career, and is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma (honor society for collegiate athletes). He has earned three BIG EAST All-Academic Team honors.
Burns is a peer mentor in the SHAPE program (Student Health Allies & Peer Educators), the mental health and wellness program in Athletics. He has also participated in the LEAD leadership development and is currently a LEAD facilitator. He has worked creating video tutorials walking students through step-by-step completion of textbook problems in statistics, pre-calculus and algebra, and currently works as a Business Analytics Intern for Northwestern Mutual.
