Bray is a two-time All-BIG EAST performer with two years of eligibility remaining
MILWAUKEE - Women's volleyball player Hattie Bray is the Blue & Gold Student-Athlete of the Month for April, as chosen by Marquette Athletics' Academics and Student Programs staff. Â
Bray majors in environmental studies with a minor in business administration and has participated in LEAD leadership programming, is on the Event Planning Committee for SAAC, and has been inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma (National Honor Society for collegiate student athletes). She also participates in Students for an Environmentally Active Campus campus initiatives as a member of SEAC.
Most recently, she went to Panama over Spring Break with her tropical ecology class. This once-in-a-lifetime experience allowed her to immerse herself in the culture and gain fieldwork experience on one of the most research-rich islands in the world, Barro Colorado Island.
"The trip was an eye-opening experience to see how research is collected and evaluated on-site," she said. "This is something I'd never experienced before while studying in the city of Milwaukee. I am immensely grateful for the opportunity Marquette and the Environmental Studies Program have created with this trip, and I will forever remember the knowledge I gained while in Panama."
Bray is a standout on the volleyball court, where she is a two-time All-BIG EAST performer at middle blocker and was an AVCA All-East Region selection this fall. The native of Hancock, Wisconsin is sixth in Marquette history with a .310 career hitting percentage and has ranked among the BIG EAST leaders in both hitting percentage and blocks each season. Bray hit .615 with 16 kills in the NCAA Second Round this past fall against then-No. 12 Purdue and was named to the NCAA Austin Region Team in 2022 after helping MU to its second Sweet 16 appearance.
